These 31 Quotes on Success Will Inspire You like No Other

You’ve heard the advice a million times. To be successful, you have to __________ [Insert foolproof idea here]. The question however is, does it work for you? Because let’s face it – working hard at a job you hate, making big bucks, taking a vacation, driving a sports car might look like living a successful life to some, but not necessarily everyone. It’s pretty amazing to see how many people equate success with making more money. In reality, these are the very people who often are miserable, unhappy and confused about their real purpose. Turns out we need a new way to define success. It’s about living a deeper, and not faster, life. It starts with doing what makes you happy, although that may not necessarily make you rich instantly. You are more likely to be rich if you are happy but not the other way around. Take startups for example. There were 500,000+ entrepreneurs who launched a new business in 2012 knowing fully well that only a handful will reach the fame of people such as Zuckerberg, for example. But those numbers don’t dissuade these business owners to keep going year after year – clearly, they are being driven by something more than money. So what is your “something”? What drives you? What does success mean to you? To answer that question, we all need some inspiration from time to time. So we compiled a list of best quotes on success that will motivate you and contribute to your success. (It’s a great idea to bookmark and come back to this anytime you need a fresh dose of...
True Success (It’s Not What You Think)

True Success (It’s Not What You Think)

When people talk about success, they often think about having lots of money, 3 houses, a boat…and an island!  These are certainly nice things to have, but having these alone does not guarantee you personal happiness.  Some of the richest people are the loneliest and saddest.  Money doesn’t buy everything and certainly cannot entitle you to to true, personal success. “Over the past few years, new research has given us a much deeper understanding of the relationship between what we earn and how we feel.  Economists have been scrutinizing the links between income and happiness across nations, and psychologist have probed individuals to find out what really makes us tick when it comes to cash” (Blackman 2014) The problem is, it is easy to equate money with security and freedom.  People commonly make the mistake of putting all their time and energy into achieving a higher income, leaving little time for anything else. They exhaust their ability to develop deep connections with others, build a family, focus on love and health.  They usually end up feeling empty, lonely and like something is missing.  Having a high income and lavish life style sound appealing, yet are external factors and unless you devote them towards self fulfilling experiences, they will not contribute to personal success alone.  “Experiences are worth more than you think” (Blackman 2014) Ultimately it is what we feel that lays the foundation for personal happiness and success. When we work on our inner experiences, we are more likely to feel positive emotions such as joy, affection, tranquillity, and gratitude. Regardless of whether we have money or not, we...

Recognize what it is that makes you unique and embrace it. Don’t ‘try’ to be normal: Naturally as humans, we try to fit in with others.  This is often a natural reaction to avoid criticism or looking strange.  It’s generally a ‘stay safe’ reaction. Be mindful of your tendency to try fit in, and where it may be in face hindering your uniqueness. Don’t try to be ‘ab-normal’: This might be trying to ‘fake’ something that you’re not in order to stand out or be ‘better’ than those around you. Sometimes you might actually look ‘weird’.  Being unique is being your authentic, genuine self. Acknowledge and embrace it. My Success Only Began At 41… Here’s Why…

My Success Only Began At 41… Here’s Why…

You hear about a lot of people who make it big early in life. People who come straight out of college and jump into an incredible career. People who have a brilliant idea at 21 and just run with it. But what about the rest of us? How does success find us? I spent 20 years searching for something that would help me become the person I always wanted to be. A job that would make me feel fulfilled and a project that would help to change lives. But nothing stuck. Nothing I found made a difference…. I felt lost. Stranded. And running out of time. One day I woke up and decided that something had to change. It clicked for me that I was truly worth more and that the risks I’d been hiding from weren’t even that scary. Sometimes you have to step outside your comfort zone, give your life a little shake and get on with the next phase. At 37 I started to find my calling. I entered a world where we were encouraged to think differently. Where success was the norm. Where people could be the people they had always wanted to be. I stepped into my true self and started living a life of purpose. 11 years later, I’m not going back. This journey is incredible and I’m reaching from strength to strength. Your Success is about helping anyone find what they’re made of and start creating life on your terms.   Here’s the five keys that changed everything for me:   1. Focus on others This one can be really hard, especially...
It’s Time to Let Go of the Past: 7 Steps to Move On

It’s Time to Let Go of the Past: 7 Steps to Move On

You’ve been hurt in the past. And that sucks. You cannot move past something your partner did or your mom said. Maybe a friend’s piercing comment is stuck in your mind. What’s important though is you decide what to do with all that past hurt. Do you sit back, wallow in your misery, wondering about the ever-elusive “why me” question all this time? Do you endlessly ruminate about the past, getting stuck into the downward spiral of negative thinking? Or do you prefer to bounce back and make a conscious decision to take it as a learning experience and move on? Often, we’re unintentionally living in the past. We taste our food at the restaurant and think “It’s not as good as what they had the last time”. We sip our coffee and think “I wish it had less sugar”. We’re constantly ruminating on the past (or the future). According to Eckhart Tolle, we create and maintain problems in our lives because it gives us an identity. Most people replay past mistakes and painful situations over and over in their minds. They cling to frustration. They obsess and feel victimised by these experiences. In the end, no matter what the cause of your trauma, its impact on your life mainly lies in the story you tell yourself and the emotion you attach to the situation. When it’s time to let go, here are seven tips that will help you move on (even when it’s hard): 1. Decide that it is time to let go They say awareness is 90% of the journey. The first step is to acknowledge your...
