My Success Only Began At 41… Here’s Why…

You hear about a lot of people who make it big early in life. People who come straight out of college and jump into an incredible career. People who have a brilliant idea at 21 and just run with it. But what about the rest of us? How does success find us?

I spent 20 years searching for something that would help me become the person I always wanted to be. A job that would make me feel fulfilled and a project that would help to change lives. But nothing stuck. Nothing I found made a difference….

I felt lost.
Stranded.
And running out of time.

One day I woke up and decided that something had to change. It clicked for me that I was truly worth more and that the risks I’d been hiding from weren’t even that scary. Sometimes you have to step outside your comfort zone, give your life a little shake and get on with the next phase.

At 37 I started to find my calling.

I entered a world where we were encouraged to think differently. Where success was the norm. Where people could be the people they had always wanted to be. I stepped into my true self and started living a life of purpose.

11 years later, I’m not going back. This journey is incredible and I’m reaching from strength to strength. Your Success is about helping anyone find what they’re made of and start creating life on your terms.

Here’s the five keys that changed everything for me:

1. Focus on others

This one can be really hard, especially when you’ve got a lot going on. But focusing away from yourself clears the space and allows for new opportunities to come your way. Start off by helping people already in your life. Be the best friend you can be. Be the most amazing co-worker in your community. Do more than they have ever expected and get used to creating the feeling of gratitude.

2. Be ok with success

Success is a funny feeling. For some people it comes with financial wealth. For others it’s about being part of an incredible community. Whatever it is for you, define it and hang on to it. The path to Success isn’t short and you’ll need to be ready for the hiccups and challenges that comes your way – it’ll be worth it in the end.

3. Love who you are

We’re unique for a reason. We all have different skills, different talents and different perspectives. That’s what makes this journey so incredible. Being surrounded by people who appreciate everything you are and everything you have to give.

4. Be surrounded by an amazing community

When I did this I started alone. It took so much time and energy to keep myself going. That’s why having a community behind you that supports your goals and bolsters your vision is so important. No one wants to go on this journey alone. You shouldn’t have to. Be of a movement that matters.

5. Learn like you’ll live forever

This is one of my favorite quotes and something I know I’ll always connect with. “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” – Gandhi. Learning is what I do. Every experience I have, ever book I read, every person I meet is another moment to learn something. From the beginning I’ve invested in myself and in the knowledge that I need in order to succeed.
